Name Kham Wa Essays - Philosophy Of Religion, Religion,
Name: Kham Wa Subject of my paper: Positive Atheist What has the research I've done for the annotated bibliography revealed to me about the subject? The topic that I chose to do my research was concerning religion and how because of the negative implications that it carries, I consider Atheism as better way to live. It's a lot better benefits. One of them is, more realistic expectations about life and death. I think it's an important realization that there's no afterlife awaiting you. There's only this life. You're only born once and you only live once. That means you better make the most of it. I already knew about Atheism prior to this research; however, because of it, I gained a deeper understanding on what it means to be an atheist. For example, I used to think that agnosticism was the same thing as atheism. But I found out that atheists don't believe that a deity formed or created anything that has come to be, for example humans, the earth, the universe, etc., while agnostics believe that not enough evidence has been discovered to say that God exist or not. If I had to sum up what it is that I think about my topic, what would I say? Atheism really is a negative word. But negative isn't always bad. Some construe the mere questioning of faith or the presentation of alternatives to it as negative atheism, but being guided by reason instead of faith isn't negative. Science shows us the wonders of the world every day. As my topic; "Positive" mean positive thinking, and "Positive Atheism" mean positive thinking without god. What sort of questions has the research brought to my mind? Why? What is atheism really mean? To be able to deeper understand on what it means to be an atheist. What is the benefit to be an atheist? Why is atheism better than theism? What sort of answers have I come up with? Atheism is a philosophical idea that is generally defined as a disbelief, or denial of the existence of God or gods. Atheism is closely related to the idea of agnosticism. Agnosticism holds that the existence of gods can be neither proved nor disproved. Atheists, by contrast, reject the idea of the existence of gods as a philosophically flawed or unnecessary theory. By choosing an atheistic viewpoint, individuals choose the right to develop their own morals and guidelines seen as beneficial to society without being forced to reconcile their moral to spiritual documents or teachings. Atheists are guided by the expected consequences of their own actions. They are committed to the application of reason, science, and experience to better understand the universe and solve problems. Religion have been the ostensible justifications for numerous wars and pollical and social conflicts. Religion also leads to fanaticism and extremism. Many people feel that religious principles are absolute and require strict adherence and passionate enforcement. Why do you care about the subject? I think that theism only teaching unrealistic stories, it's full of hypocrisy, it goes against science, it violates some human freedoms, and it's full of fundamentalists who seek to do harm in the name of their deity. I think Why should we care about the subject? Society is rapidly changing through globalization and the blending of cultural traditions. To achieve the most harmonious path for human development, it is essential that humans are able to openly debate the development of shared principles. Through free-thinking philosophies such as atheism, society could find the most direct path toward cultural advancement. Promoting an theistic approach to law, ethics and education could be a key factor in helping the human culture enter a new era of social integration.

Chemical Medicine Meridia drug
Chemical Medicine Meridia drug The use of chemical medicine in the treatment of diseases has an old history. For so many years, people have used medicine depending on its availability. However, development in technology has brought rapid progress in the field of medicine. Today, there are numerous medicines that are used to treat a wide range of conditions. One such condition is obesity.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Chemical Medicine: Meridia drug specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Apart from the traditional methods of losing weight that include dieting and exercises, there are a number of medicines that also come in handy. Sibutramine Hydrochloride Monohydrate (Meridia) drug has been used in weight management. Of late, Meridia has sparked a lot of controversy. This has been brought about by the discovery of long term effects pertaining to the drug. This paper will attempt to look at the side effects against the advantages of the Meridia drug. Me ridia has been associated with cardiovascular problems. Investigations have revealed that there are high chances of increased heart beats amongst users of the drug. A sizeable number of users have developed hypertension. It could also be associated with dilution of blood that makes the pumping by the heart much easy. This hence quickens the flow of blood in the body. The end result is death where corrective measures do not work. In fact, deaths have been registered among the users of Meridia drug. Stroke could also attack the patients and leave them immobilized hence unable to take care of themselves. It is not clear what causes these problems but definitely, there is the element of stimulating the body. This could lead to increased metabolism accounting for the fast heart beat. This functioning of the drug comes closer to what rigorous activity does to the body. The medical arena has registered increased numbers of patients with heart related complications. Treating these condition s has posed challenges most of which have financial dimension. That is why some medics argue that they cannot afford to have drugs adding to these problems being administered. Other problems associated with Meridia are hallucinations and confusion. Hallucinating persons see things which do not exist or are imagined. Getting confused is when a person looses focus and is not able to account on his/her actions. These are mental conditions that could take us closer home in terms of the devastating effects of the drug. Based on the foregoing, it is clear that the brain is not spared. It defeats common logic that an obese person could end up with mental breakdown while trying to control weight. The cause for these conditions may have some connection to the increased or reduced heart beat. Increased heart rates could strain the blood vessels in the brain triggering the confusion.Advertising Looking for essay on health medicine? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper wi th 15% OFF Learn More Reduced heart beats have to do with lesser flow of blood into the brain. This means that oxygen supply in the brain is insufficient. Death of cells in this case is inevitable and the onset of serious brain damage real. The problems posed by the drug are in the group of symptoms that form ill mental health. It is worth noting that a drug affecting the brain to the level of hallucinating or getting confused is dangerous to use. The benefits of Meridian when used as dieting drug are worthwhile. Studies have revealed that patients using the drug have potential to lose weight up to 4%. Some of them shed more weight than this percentage. This means that the drug is effective in weight management. It is truly a weapon against the obesity monster. Its performance is outstanding when it is compared to other dieting drugs in the market. When we take a look at the existing non medicine methods of losing weight, it is clear that Meridia is a better option. Dieting calls for concerted efforts and many a times it fails. The patients experience high appetites that may become uncontrollable. One may skip a meal only to eat more than is expected in subsequent meals. Dieting requires discipline but many loopholes are created and more often than not it does not work. Similar trends are experienced while excising. This leaves a clear choice for the use of Meridia. Taking the drugs is an easy routine to follow. As noted at the beginning of this paper, this drug can be seen as a product of the latest technology. It has really targeted the purpose for which it was developed. In conclusion, it is apparent that the disadvantages for this drug surpass the advantages. The side effects discussed here are about 20% of the total. There are other symptoms which may not appear as serious as the ones discussed. This does not however mean that they could be overlooked. It is common knowledge that with progression of the symptoms, the patient is bound to fa ce serious repercussions in the end. When a drug meant to control a condition end up causing death, it is only fair that it is withdrawn from the market. The authorities should not sit back and watch as innocent people get harmed. There has been an ongoing debate by experts concerning the drug. The issue seems to have divided these experts into two. There is the group which has maintained that the drug should be withdrawn from the market all together based on its side effects. The other group insists that there is no need to withdraw it. All of them seem to agree on the side effects with second group advising that the drug should be used on prescription by a physician. This advice is a manifestation of the fact that the drug is harmful. The role of the physician is to carry out examinations on the patient. If such a patient has a history of hypertension, then the usage of the drug is not recommended.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Chemical Medicine: Meridi a drug specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This is tantamount to going round the problem instead of facing it head on. It is also wrong to point fingers at the wrong causes of health problems among patients using the drug. On the other hand, the world today is faced by the ever increasing cases of obesity. Many children are becoming obese and the scientists have attributed this to poor feeding habits. Many other people and particularly those on drugs are experiencing obesity. Curbing this menace hence becomes a priority. The drug in question has proofed its success and contains elements that are important when it comes to weight management. It would be prudent to identify the elements that cause the side effects so as to rebrand the drug. In the face of modern technology, improvement on the existing drug is possible. It would be an easier option to do adjustments to the drug as opposed to banning it.

An interpretation of Love in ChangRae Leeââ¬â¢s ââ¬ÅA Gesture Lifeââ¬Â
Interestingly, ââ¬Å"A Gesture Lifeâ⬠is certainly not the kind of story that portrays love in a typical manner. It is quite amusing that there are lots of ironies if love was to be discussed in this book . This essay will show the readers that the desire for love in ââ¬Å"A Gesture Lifeâ⬠had ironically hindered the acquisition of love. The novel of Chang-Rae Lee was basically about probably the worst kind of tragedy there is, not being loved by everyone even by oneself. If we are to classify the different forms of love in ââ¬Å"A Gesture Life,â⬠there are lots of technical terms that are always related to the concept of love like agape, pragmatic love, eros, complex chemical reactions and terms like pheromones and dopamine, and lots of scientific terms that few of us comprehends. This essay will only employ types of love that is understandable by all for the purpose of keeping this essay from being too general. This essay will focus on the main characterââ¬â¢s love for the other characters and concepts in his life. But the essay will not settle for mere descriptions of the protagonistââ¬â¢s love, it will show the reader how love had been distorted and given meanings by the traumas that the protagonist had suffered during the war. The first kind of love from the novel is the love for acceptance. The protagonist Hata, had been begging (although he didnââ¬â¢t express this explicitly) for acceptance from the people in his life and his neighborhood. Hata was too careful about everything he does in his neighborhood. That is because he doesnââ¬â¢t want to commit mistakes that could get him noticed. He wanted a low-profile life in his neighborhood because he has this assumption that he will be the target of discrimination in the community. But contrary to what Hata is thinking, the citizenââ¬â¢s of his community, Bedley Run, appears to like Hata, but in the way Hata wants them to like him. Hata was treated like an Oriental mascot because the people in Bedley Run seem to like him only for the differences he and most of the people in Bedley Run share. Hata speaks of his love for acceptance in his community, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦my assumption is that once I settle inâ⬠¦I will be treated like as people should be treatedâ⬠(Lee 3).à His assumptions of being accepted was brutally debunked by what had transpired during his stay in Bedley Run, ââ¬Å"It seems to me that people took a weird interest in making me feel that I am unwelcomeâ⬠(Lee 3) Hataââ¬â¢s love for acceptance didnââ¬â¢t end with his failed attempt with his neighborhood. It appears that Hataââ¬â¢s love for his adopted daughter Sunny, whom he had adopted when he was still in Korea when Sunny was just a child. While Sunny was growing up, she and her father were having endless disputes. In the long run, Sunny ran away from home even when she was just a teenager. Later in the story, Hata will have the chance to make up with her daughter. Sunny went back to Hata and asks for support for she was pregnant. Irritatingly, Hata denied Sunnyââ¬â¢s plea for support. Hata had prioritized more his and his familyââ¬â¢s reputation more than the well being of her daughter. It appears that even though Hata loves her daughter, his familyââ¬â¢s reputation weighs more than the affection of his daughter. This is Hataââ¬â¢s real and unfortunate dilemma. He had stated several times in the narrative that he loves her daughter very much, but still he is quite unable show his love. After this he will contemplate heavily as to why his life is devoid of love, he will contemplate heavily as to why his life is remote to the lives of the ones he dears most. Hataââ¬â¢s weird and unproductive approach to love will backfire at him at the most tragic of scenarios. Hata had accidentally brought his house on fire and he was hurt in the fire and was hospitalized. After that he was caught in a web of nostalgia, he reminisced about the time he served as a paramedic in an army camp in the pacific war. There he had fallen in love with a certain woman whom he calls ââ¬Å"Kâ⬠who was about the same age as her adopted daughter Sunny. He had loved K as genuinely a man could love a woman. He was even willing to die and kill for K as she had committed murder and Hata was willing to offer help in covering up. But then, just like in the bulk of the story, Hataââ¬â¢s love remains unrequited. K had viewed his love as having ill intentions. K thought that Hata was only after her youth and was only after sex. This tragic memory of Hata had some great effects in later in his life especially the relationships he had, especially with her daughter. In a weird but true manner, Hataââ¬â¢s kind of loves are real and unfortunately remains unrequited. Hataââ¬â¢s situation is what we see everyday happening to real people. That is just the truthfulness that made this story a success. The novel ââ¬Å"A Gesture Lifeâ⬠may have been talking about the tragic life of Hata when it comes to love, but what it was actually talking about is how some people find it very hard to be loved just because they themselves find it hard to love others. In the story, Hata seems to be the kind of person who never knew the feeling of being loved. He has this hunger to be loved by the people around him. This for me is one of the reasons why many people find it easy to empathize with the character of Hata. Work Cited Lee, Chang-Rae. A Gesture Life. CA: Riverhead books. 1999

Fundamentals of Mass Communication Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
Fundamentals of Mass Communication - Essay Example The films Terminator and Robocop mirrored the ââ¬Å"dehumanizing potential of technologyâ⬠that was an issue in America during the reign of President Reagan (16) with the concept of male heroes and female damsel in distress to make the story alive and exciting. However, some films were created simply to be entertaining without much connection to a particular social and political state of affairs. I chose to deconstruct The Matrix film episode due to the meanings attached to its symbols and due to its popularity. The symbolism and gender stereotyping in film can be an effective tool in conveying messages to mankindââ¬â¢s socio-political issues. The film The Matrix was first shown in public in 1999 but due to its huge success it became a trilogy with The Matrix Reloaded episode in May 2003, and The Matrix Revolutions shown in November of the same year. The film appeals to both male and female audiences from teenagers to late twenties basically because it is the age group who are interested in virtual games and martial arts stunts. The film is heavily loaded with gravity defying martial arts stunts and its story is based on computer generated technology which is of interest to the aforementioned audiences. The romance between the lead characters of Neo and Trinity as well as Trinityââ¬â¢s own persona in the film makes it generally appealing to female audiences. Major Characters and its Symbols. In the hit science fiction film The Matrix, the major characters Neo, Trinity, Morpheus, the Oracle, and Agent Smith embodies the archetypes described by Carl Jung. These archetypes along with the other symbols were used to support the entirety of the film and the message it wanted to convey to its audiences. It is worth noting though that the film is heavily loaded with male characters playing both the protagonists and antagonists roles. In the trilogy, there are four women who played important roles:

Research proposal ( research for social and community development) Essay
Research proposal ( research for social and community development) - Essay Example However, a study conducted by Crosby and Holtgrave (2006) reveals that low income and poverty while significantly linked to teenage pregnancy, social capital had a stronger influence on teenage pregnancy. Therefore, the role of social and community development appears to have a significant link to teenage pregnancy in the UK and should form the basis of further research. The proposed study will be conducted using a mixed methods research in that both qualitative and quantitative data will be collected and analysed. The qualitative data consists of 5 interviews and the quantitative data consist of at least 50 surveys. The sample population will consist of mothers who were pregnant as teens. Social capital theory will be used as a conceptual framework for analysing the data collected. This section should include the material which outlines the rationale for the project, i.e. why this study needs to be done. This should be done in a way that is both accessible and scholarly, i.e. have proper cited sources. This study is important because the UK is second only to the US in teenage pregnancy rates among all developed nations (Kmietowicz, 2002). Meanwhile the UK has the largest teenage pregnancy rates in all of Europe (Kmietowicz, 2002). Teenage pregnancy is regarded as an important social issue for a number of reasons. The main reason teenage pregnancy is perceived as an important issue is the risk of health to the pregnant teen who seeks to hide the pregnancy or terminate the pregnancy or who engages in risky behaviour that subjects the foetus to the risk of harm (Bonell, 2004). Other facts attributable to the characterization of teenage pregnancy as a major social problem is the welfare services required to support the teen mother and the infant once born (Bonell, 2004). Teenage pregnancy is also said to interfere with the teen motherââ¬â¢s education and thus employment

Fast Food and Childhood Obesity Essay Example for Free
Fast Food and Childhood Obesity Essay In the past decade there has been a rise of obesity in children. I believe along with many credible sources that a lot of the reoccurring obesity problems we face with children have to do with fast food. You could almost say that fast food is kind of like a drug for kids. It is always fun to go out to eat as well as take in food that is high in calories and saturated fat. Although fast food may be a large factor in childhood obesity, it is also safe to say that itââ¬â¢s not the only factor. Are we placing too much blame on the fast food industry for making our kids obese, or is it our fault as parents and caregivers? Fast Food Then and Now Compared to how fast food chains functioned when they first opened and how they operate now you will see a huge difference; not only in their food selection but also in the portion sizes. For example, when McDonaldââ¬â¢s first opened in 1955 their cheeseburger was only 1. 6 ounces and now you can get a cheeseburger for almost 8 ounces (Monte, 2008). The sizes are almost a 400 calorie increaseââ¬â400 calories could be more than one whole meal for a child. Every year portion sizes are essentially getting larger and larger. A small now would have been a medium just five years ago (White, n. d. ). Not only have the portion sizes gotten larger but so has the menu. Fast food chains now have been offering smoothies, sundaes, pie slices, and even cinnamon rolls. They offer more menu options that offer more calories and saturated fats. Along with these they have also gotten better with offering some healthy options too like apples and low fat milk, but who goes to a fast food restaurant to get apples and milk? There are 3,039 possible kidsââ¬â¢ meal combinations and out of that only 12 combinations meet the nutrition criteria for preschoolerââ¬â¢s and 15 for all other children (Oren Dodson, 2010). The only kind of company who would essentially poison children like that is ones who are trying to make a fast buck and that is the goal for all of these fast food companies. They donââ¬â¢t realize or they do and just donââ¬â¢t care that they are poisoning our youth and even adults. Advertisements For the past ten years or so fast food chains have been advertising to children. Kids spend more time watching TV than any other activity they do besides sleeping (Nestle, 2006). Fast food chains have taken advantage of this by placing most of their ads on programs like Nickelodeon, Disney, and even PBS. They know that if they spend millions on advertising on children networks that they will get their return on investing in them. Children see more than 32% more fast food ads on TV now than in 2003 (Oren Dodson, 2010). In 2009, McDonaldââ¬â¢s spent the most out of all the fast food companies on advertising to children. They spent almost 900 million dollars targeting ages 6-11. Subways was in a very far out second spending a little over 400 million dollars targeting 12-17 year olds (Harris, Schwartz Brownell, 2010). Studies have also shown that Hispanics and African American children see more than 50% more fast food ads than white children (Oren Dodson, 2010). With this there are more fast food chains in African American and Hispanic dominated neighborhoods. Family Statistics You can probably assume that every family in the U. S. goes to fast food restaurants on occasion but some go more than others. Studies have shown that families with lesser income are more exposed to fast food than other families who have a higher income (Block Scribner, 2004). With the economy the way it is, much more people are making much less and this is causing more and more families to visit fast food places rather than eating at home. You can go to a fast food joint and spend ten dollars for the whole family to eat rather than spending hundreds of dollars at a grocery store. In an article I just read, less than one third of Americans are eating their meals from scratch; meaning actually cooking and serving them to their families (Voigts, 2005). This was published seven years agoââ¬âjust think of where we are now! I conducted an interview with my sister, Morgan Dutton, who is an extreme fitness guru, health nut, and she also has children. I asked her what she thought about this obesity epidemic in our youth and she said, ââ¬Å"I cannot believe all of the staggering statistics regarding kids and fast food. I am not sure why parents wouldnââ¬â¢t want their kids eating the healthiest food option rather than the fastest. Kids are starting to get diabetes earlier and it reduces their life span by years. Fast food is essentially killing our kids, it may be slowly but it is happening (personal communication, October 15th, 2012). â⬠Drawing the Line So whose fault is it that our childrenââ¬â¢s generation is getting more and more obese? Should we blame it on fast foodââ¬âwhen can we blame ourselves? As a parent I want my child to live the longest healthiest life they can live and when I take them to places like McDonaldââ¬â¢s and Burger King I am basically poisoning their body. It may be fast food that is making them obese but isnââ¬â¢t it our fault for taking them there in the first place? Exposing them to that kind of food especially early on in their life is only going to make it harder for them when they get older and can make their own decisions. Conclusion Rather than placing blame for the obesity problem with our children maybe we should be taking action. You could blame fast food chains for making your kid obese or you could even blame yourself because you took them there. Parentââ¬â¢s need to start making better decisions on what they are putting in their kids bodies because they may outlive their own child. There are so many chemicals and toxins in fast food that people are not aware of. Fast food may be cheap and it may be fast but in the long scheme of things, it is killing our kids.

Essay --
Nicholas Edel Form V English 10 The Servant Song In William Faulkner's novel, As I Lay Dying, the flood and the fire are two important events that occur over the course of the Bundrensââ¬â¢ journey to bury their mother Addie. Both fire and water are used as Christian symbols as well. For example, when people are baptized they are blessed with holy water and then they are cleansed of their original sin and become a member of the Church. Fire is used in Confirmation, especially when the Holy Spirit came over the apostles and gave them ââ¬Å"tongues of fireâ⬠on Pentecost which was the first Confirmation. People are brought into the Church through the baptismal waters and they become strengthened through the fires of Confirmation. However, fire and flood can also take a negative connotation, such as bringing along destruction with them. Things are wiped out by floods, for example the Bible story of Noahââ¬â¢s ark where the whole world is flooded and the world is cleansed of the evil because of it. Also, fire is the elemen t of destruction, it is uncontrollable in its nature and only brings destruction wherever it sweeps. However, for the characters Cash and Darl, the flood and the fire take on the different connotations and they both develop differently because of them. The flood and the fire play a key role in the development of Cash and Darl, where Cash becomes a Christ-like figure for the family after being reborn in the waters of the flood and Darl who takes on the role of the anti-Christ and tries to tear the family apart after his first transformation in the flood and his rebirth in the fire. Cash is like Christ to the family but he does understand his role until after his baptism in the river crossing. Cash, like Jesus, is a carpenter an... ...aken on the role of Christ and the devil respectively, and, in the end just the way Jesus wins, Cash prevails over Darl and the family buries Addie after a long journey. They both play key roles in the familyââ¬â¢s journey and they both are greatly affected by the flood and the fire. Both are baptized into different positions at the river and there was nothing they could do to change what would occur after the river crossing. Their destinies had already been set for them and there was no way that they could change it. Then, with the fire at the barn, both achieved their final calling and both fell into what their roles truly were. Both shaped the way the family went about its time on the journey and no matter what, the family will never be the same after the flood and the fire incidences that cost both Darl and Cash something, whether it be a leg or their whole psyche.

Operations Management Cds
Not only new machines gave high radioactivity, it allowed production costs to be low and CDC targeted smaller molding companies. New large multi-cavity molding machines used I Small injection molding machines meant small variety of products could only be materiality of products can be made at short notice Variety of products can be made at short notice Although production becomes flexible, the drawback of this Is the complexity of changing moulds on large machines that leads to a prolonged process.Trading Is stable and production process becomes more of routine work. I Variation is high as they have same contracts to take orders so they know what's products was good and distribution channels were excellent. Distribution channels re good but cost has incurred in express delivery made by CDC instead of customer. Distribution channels are good but cost has incurred in express delivery made by CDC instead of customer.I Having problems of getting use to sub-contracting and recognizing on what ââ¬Ëstandards of quality there should be in their products I According to the ââ¬ËFour Vs.' analysis and Hayes and Wheelwright's four stages of operational contribution (shown in appendix 1), CDC have moved from ââ¬Ëstage 2' that is Externally Neutral to ââ¬Ëstage 3' of being Internally supportive by implementing a new strategy from moving from focus products to concept products. CDC were already popular with focus products so their previous operations were giving a fair contribution to the organization. The Volume' in the four Vs.' analysis has increased operational capabilities but to a certain extent as there still is a drawback of no planning in sale forecasts and production time wasted in changing moulds. Each area in the ââ¬ËFour Vs. analysis is what actually contributed in CDC to implement a new strategy. Operations taking place at CDC allow CDC to build upon their ââ¬Ëstage 2' strategy according to Hayes and Wheelwrights four stages (see appendix 1). Po sitive factors such as increase in productivity and wide variety of products leads to more outputs and results in increase in profit margins.Without the operation strategic change their productivity would not be ââ¬Ë600%' higher. According to Hayes and Wheelwright CDC are trying to ââ¬Ëimplement' the best practice they can find by keeping production costs to a minimal but also producing large volumes efficiently. CDC should to this extent stay on the ââ¬Ëstage 3' strategy as they have to be also wary of the external operations taking place such as the competitors in the market. There has o be an understanding with where the market is going and assess its operation performance objectives at a regular level internally and externally.

On Racist Speech
Adetayo Adedoyin Dickson Lam ENGL 1304 February 16, 2013 On racist Speech The voice of writers and authors are the key components to their inner thoughts. It is a way of actually portraying what a person is trying to say. However the case is that their words silenced and put in period of exile away from the eyes of the public. Author Charles Lawrence goes on to state that racist speech is wrong simply because of the drastic agony it puts on a victimââ¬â¢s perspective. In the article ââ¬Å"On Racist Speech,â⬠the author, Charles R Lawrence III, effectively establishes creditability, logics and emotional themes to supports his argument which infers that the use of harmful language should not be protected by the First Amendment Law in order to stop racism. Lawrence sheds light upon the very turbulent issue of the First Amendment right to the Freedom of speech in contrast to the inequality caused by its misuse through racially bias speech. The author states that the University off icials should endorse some sort policy that will protect the rights of those who are victimized by this ââ¬Å"racial nuisance,â⬠while at the same time not censoring our constitutional right of free speech, ââ¬Å"I am troubled by the way the debates has been framed in response to the recent surge of racist incidents on college and university campuses and in response universities attempts to regulate harassing speechâ⬠(51). Continually, Lawrence defines the set of ideals that the First Amendment was based on, particularly; equality. He goes on to show the audience that this very balance is in danger if the speech in question is stated in a deliberately hurtful manner. Lawrence brings up factual evidence from the Brown vs. Board of education that supports his claim that prejudice can also be viewed as a form of racist speech. Lawrence argues just as Brown did, that segregation in schools causes disparity and unfair conditions to the victims of racist speech. Brown deemed t he idea of segregation as a symbolic message that affected the hearts and minds of young black students.Lawrence correspondingly deems free speech that allows ââ¬Å"Hate Mongering Speechâ⬠as unfair and segregating ââ¬Å"Brown held that segregated schools were inherently unequal because of the message of the message that segregation conveyed-that black children were an untouchable caste, unfit to go school with white childrenâ⬠(52). The author hence, proposes that the racist speech can hurt so much so that it can create an unfair educational environment for those who are victimized by it. The author used this notable example because he is trying to convey an important point to the lawyers, attorneys and the University regarding the on racist speech.Lawrence suggests that speech should be regulated in a way that does not limit it. First, the speech should not invade the general privacy of any student. This meant that speech would not be tolerated in personal spaces such as dorms, restrooms, or any living space ââ¬Å"Minority students should not be required to remain in their rooms in order to avoid racial assaultsâ⬠(52). Another regulation was the idea that speech that was intentionally hurtful or unruly would not be tolerated. However, any public demonstrations would have to give fair warning so that others may produce a counter-argumentation or avoid it entirely. The author takes a different approach to the problem. He suggests that on an individual basis lawyers could bend the rules to distort the will of their client so that the victim would be amended. This solution on an individual basis would help to cool the flames of racism without opening the floodgates. Lawrence also supports his claims by making visible repetition in the article. This shows how the author constantly makes the audience feel like they should be responsible and they should be able to do something about the racist speech issue in the society. The author Charles Lawrenc e is able to establish creditability in his article he relates his childhood experiences with human rights ââ¬Å"I have spent the better part of my life as a dissenterâ⬠(51). This is to show that he has been an active member of the First Amendment right even as a child. Lawrence also appeals to the audience emotions by stating how hurt the victims are in the society ââ¬Å"Above all I am troubled that we have not listened to the real victims ,that we have shown so little understanding of their injury and we have abandoned those whose race, gender, or sexual preference continues to make them second-class citizensâ⬠(52) .Persistently, the author defines the set ideals that the First Amendment was based on particularly equality it seems to him a very sad sarcasm that the first instinct of civil libertarians has been to challenge the exertions the university makes to provide minority students the protection the constitution guarantees them. Lawrence tries to make his argumen t justifiable by not defining a subjective issue in his argument he sticks to the main purpose of writing the article which is to talk about the ââ¬Å"On racist speechâ⬠and he is able to give strategic examples like the First Amendment and the Brown versus Board of Education case.He thereby avoids subjective issues which makes him deviate from the actual facts regarding the on racist speech which is supposed to be conveyed to the audience. Lawrence creatively draws out many ideas that would help with the problem of racist speech by stating that we could regulate racist speech without violating the First Amendment law and he fears that if the government refuses to look into this there would be an upbringing of racial ferocity he also explains that racist speech should be diminished by the society as a unit because racism does not just affect the individual but the society at large .The author Charles Lawrence claims that it is unfair to place the burden of racism on anyone bec ause it forces them to live and work in an environment where at any moment they may be subjected to condescending verbal harassment and assault.

Levels of Taxonomy Used in Biology
Levels of Taxonomy Used in Biology Taxonomy is the practice of categorizing and naming of species. The official scientific name of an organism consists of its Genus and its Species Identifier in a naming system called binomial nomenclature. The Work of Carolus Linnaeus The current taxonomic system gets its roots from the work of Carolus Linnaeus in the early 1700s. Before Linnaeus set up the rules of the two-word naming system, species had long and unwieldy Latin polynomials that were inconsistent and inconvenient for scientists when communicating with each other or even the public. While Linnaeuss original system had many fewer levels than the modern system has today, it was still an excellent place to start to organize all of life into similar categories for easier classification. He used theà structure and function of body parts, mostly, to classify the organisms. Thanks to advances in technology and understanding the evolutionary relationships among species, we have been able to update the practice to get the most accurate classification system possible. The Taxonomic Classification System The modern taxonomic classification system has eight main levels (from most inclusive to most exclusive): Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species Identifier. Every different species has a unique species identifier and the more closely a species is related to it on the evolutionary tree of life, it will be included in a more inclusive group with the species being classified. (Note: An easier way to remember the order of these levels is to use a mnemonic device to remember the first letter of each word in order. The one we use is Do Keep Pond Clean Or Fish Get Sick) Domain A domain is the most inclusive of the levels (meaning it has the most number of individuals in the group). Domains are used to distinguish between the cell types and, in the case of prokaryotes, where they are found and what the cell walls are made of. The current system recognizes three domains: Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya. Kingdom Domains are further broken into Kingdoms. The current system recognizes six Kingdoms: Eubacteria, Archaebacteria, Plantae, Animalia, Fungi, and Protista. Phylum The next division would be the phylum. Class Several related classes make up a phylum. Order Classes are further divided into Orders. Family The next level of classification that orders are divided into are Families. Genus A genus is a group of closely related species. The genus name is the first part of the scientific name of an organism. Species Identifier Each species has a unique identifier that describes only that species. It is the second word in the two-word naming system of the scientific name of a species.

Huyndai and Kya case study international business Research Paper
Huyndai and Kya case study international business - Research Paper Example The more value the won gains, the more expansion Hyundai should seek in the US. So far, although won is gaining strength in comparison to the US dollar, yet it is still below the value of US dollar (ââ¬Å"Latest Exchange Ratesâ⬠). So it would not be feasible to completely shift all of its manufacturing plants in the US. However, the point at which, if ever, won gains more value than the US dollar, then Hyundai should completely shift its manufacturing plant to the US. Besides, currency movement is not the only factor that drives Hyundaiââ¬â¢s motivation to expand its presence in the US. The company might want to expand its presence because its main customer base happens to be the Americans. As it expands its presence in the US, reduced cost of transportation, more knowledge of the local market in the US, and availability of advanced technology would more than compensate for any costs incurred in the process of expansion in the long
